Establishment of Manufacturer of Precision Components for Use in Car Electronic Parts and Construction of New Works for Precision Pressing and Plating
-Improving and Expanding Full-Spectrum Supply Framework for Materials, Precision Pressing and Plating-
JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation (head office: Otemachi 2-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; president: Masanori Okada) has decided to establish JX Metals Precision Technology Co., Ltd. (tentative name), a manufacturer of precision components and materials (pressed and plated precision rolled products) for use in car electronic parts, and to build a new works in Kakegawa-shi, Shizuoka, to perform the pressing and plating of the precision components and materials. The new company is scheduled to be set up in April 2011, and the new works is to begin operation in April 2013. The investment is expected to total about 9 billion yen.

The market for electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and other next-generation eco-friendly vehicles (eco-cars) is expected to see large-scale growth, and a further increase is anticipated in demand for the precision rolled products and precision components and materials used in these vehicles. JX Nippon Mining and Metals currently manufactures precision rolled products at its Kurami Works and performs precision pressing and plating of the products mainly at its Hitachi and Isohara Fabricating Works.
The establishment of the new company and the construction of the new works will further improve and expand JX Nippon Mining and Metals Group’s supply system for these precision components and materials. Strengthening and expanding its full-spectrum supply framework for materials, precision pressing, and gold-plating—the forte of JX Nippon Mining and Metals—will greatly contribute to the growth of the eco-car market.
