Completion of Construction of the Kakegawa Works
A New Base for Producing Precision Components and Connectors:
Creating an OEM System for Automotive Connectors and Other Components by Integrating Manufacturing Processes from Stamping and Plating to Assembly

JX Metals Precision Technology Co., Ltd. (JXPT; head office: Ueno 1-chome, Taito-ku, Tokyo; president: Masahiro Tsuji) is pleased to announce the completion of the construction of the Kakegawa Works in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture. JXPT is a subsidiary of JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation (JXNMM; head office: Otemachi 2-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; president: Yoshimasa Adachi) and manufactures precision components and connectors. The Kakegawa Works will provide integrated manufacturing of precision components and connectors, from stamping and plating processes through to assembly.
The Kakegawa Works will create an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) system mainly for automotive connectors.

The Kakegawa Works is scheduled to commence operations in April 2013.

The market for green vehicles—cars featuring environment-friendly technologies—is expected to see greater and greater growth in the future. Because eco-cars have more electrical components than conventional vehicles, demand for the connectors and other components used in them is expected to rise further.

The Kakegawa Works will provide stable and efficient production of high-quality automotive connectors and other components by employing an integrated manufacturing system that harnesses the precision fabricating technology that the JXNMM Group has acquired over the years.

To meet the wide-ranging needs of the IT industry, the Group already has in place an integrated manufacturing system for connectors for IT and other applications. The system features a collaborative network centered on the Group’s Esashi Works (Iwate Prefecture), Tatebayashi Works (Gunma Prefecture), and Nasu Works (Tochigi Prefecture).

With the completion of the Kakegawa Works, the JXNMM Group will establish an OEM system to supply connectors and other components that are easy to use. The JXNMM Group aims to respond to the diverse demands of clients by adopting a business model similar to that used in the semiconductor and other industries where division into planning/development and monozukuri (manufacturing) specializations is being promoted.
