JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation

Revision to Company Organization

JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation (President: Shigeru Oi) is pleased to announce the opening of a Frankfurt Office in the Federal Republic of Germany on July 1 this year. Details of the new office can be found below.

1. Purpose of the new office

JX Nippon Mining & Metals is engaged in a wide range of operations in the metals and materials fields centering on copper, involving upstream (resources development), midstream (smelting and refining), and downstream (electronic materials, recycling and environmental services) activities. In recent years, our Europe-related businesses have been increasingly important, particularly for our midstream and downstream operations. To support further development of these activities, and to achieve the goal of “developing and strengthening technology-based businesses that will be mainstays of the future” as set in our Fiscal 2017–19 Medium-Term Management Plan, we have decided to establish a base in the Federal Republic of Germany. The country is an important global center for many metal-related businesses including automotive and electronics, and a major source of cutting-edge research on such themes as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. Our new location in Germany will help us, in particular, to strengthen our information-gathering capabilities and bolster our collaborative efforts with relevant companies and research institutions in Europe.
