2.4-fold Increase of the collection and treatment capacity
at Changpin Recycle Center in Taiwan
JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation (President: Murayama Seiichi; "the Company") has completed the modification of Nikko Metals Taiwan Co., Ltd.'s Changpin Recycle Center ("the Center"), a key overseas operating site of the Company, to increase the treatment of recycled raw materials. The Center's collection and treatment capacity will consequently more than double from the current 500t/month to 1,200t/month.
The Company's Metals & Recycling Division is undertaking initiatives that increase the amount of recycled raw materials processed at Saganoseki Smelter & Refinery of JX Metal Smelting Co., Ltd. to strengthen the competitiveness of the business. Increasing the treatment of such recycled materials would result in less CO2 emissions and become an effective measure to address climate change.
A new building has been installed to turn the operation into a two-way treatment system, and a crushing equipment and mechanical sampling systems have been added to achieve the capacity increase. Since the approval from the Taiwanese authorities has already been issued, the equipment will be ready for operation from this April. We forecast a steady growth of the recycled raw materials' generation in Taiwan, where is a cluster zone for cutting edge electronic industries and the recovery systems for recycled raw materials are already in place. Consequently, we will promote the collections of recycled raw materials in Taiwan using prompt and accurate evaluation technologies as accumulated to date.
The Company aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, by proactively promoting recycling business and the effective utilization of non-ferrous metals that are vital for modern life.
