Nikko Metals Taiwan Co., Ltd . (President: Uno Hiroshi ; "Nikko Metals Taiwan"), a subsidiary of JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation (President: Murayama Seiichi ), will augment processing facilities for sputtering targets for semiconductors and increase production capacity at its plant to approximately 80% above current levels. Following planning, construction, and initial start-up of new production lines , the facilities are scheduled to progressively start operating from the second half of fiscal 2024.

　

The JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group's sputtering targets for semiconductors are used in the manufacture of a variety of semiconductor devices, including high-end logic and memory chips. They have earned the top share in the industry, and are a priority product for the advanced materials field, which is positioned as a focus business in the JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group Long-Term Vision 2040.The semiconductor industry is expanding as digitalization advances worldwide, and since demand is expected to increase over the long term, the JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group is currently augmenting its production capacity for sputtering targets for semiconductors in Japan and overseas. As part of these efforts, this fiscal year the Group has completed investments in facilities to double its previous capacity in Taiwan, which is a center of high-end semiconductor production. With an eye to future demand increases in Taiwan, the Group has now decided to further augment its production capacity. This additional investment will build supply systems that enable the Group to respond flexibly to the demands of its customers and earn their trust.
